During 21-22 March 2018, General Viddhavat Rajatanun, Ombudsman for Chief Ombudsman, together with Mr. Raksagecha Chaechai, Secretary-General, Office of the Ombudsman, attended the public outreach program 35th Ombudsman Meeting with Public at Chumphon Province, held by Corporate Communication and Public Relations Bureau. The main purpose of this two-day event is to enhance knowledge and understanding on the Ombudsmans duties and powers. The first day was started by a welcome speech delivered by Mr. Narong Phonla-iat, Governor of Chumphon Province, and followed by a lecture on Duties and Powers of the Ombudsman and how to use mobile App Office of the Ombudsman Thailand. A discussion on Duties and Powers of Independent Organs in accordance with the 2017 Constitution was also set up and joined by 400 participants, including representatives from government and State agencies, academics, ICT leaders in community and social sector. In addition, mobile Ombudsman service bus was stationed at the local market Mor Panus to provide intake service and legal affairs consultation as well as to disseminate the Ombudsmans duties and powers and complaints lodging channels for local residents in Chumphon Province.
     On the next day, a corporate social responsibility-related activity for keeping sea clear, beach clean and air unpolluted was organized at Sai Ree Beach, Chumphon Province. On this occasion, General Viddhavat Rajatanun, Ombudsman for Chief Ombudsman, together with Mr. Raksagecha Chaechai, Secretary-General, Office of the Ombudsman, as well as Mr. Narong Phonla-iat, Governor of Chumphon Province, altogether donated sport kits and learning materials to youth of 3 schools located in Sai Ree Beach Sub-District. To increase public awareness in preserving local creatures and promoting sustainability and balance of ecosystem and biodiversity, this important event was also marked with releasing turtles, sea basses and Black Tiger Shrimps back into the sea, as well as cleaning garbage along Sai Ree Beach area.
